Ellen DeGeneres just stepped in it. And people are calling her out.
The comedienne courted outrage after dedicating a tweet to Katy Perry for her birthday… writing Happy Birthday Katy Perry. It’s time to bring out the big balloons.
DeGeneres has been an outspoken critic of Harvey Weinstein and the scandal surrounding him, so you could say that her joke is victim of bad timing. But a lot of her fans have pointed out the double standard… saying this joke wouldn’t fly had a man posted it.
Michael Rapaport was quick to respond. He chimed in to say that if a man sent this tweet the world would stop.
Piers Morgan also blasted Ellen, even going so far as to call Ellen a sexist pig.
But others are pointing out that Ellen and Katy are friends so there’s no problem with the tweet. And some are even mentioning to ‘bring out the big balloons’ are lyrics in a Katy Perry song.
