Police fire teargas to disperse Kenya protesters

Video has emerged from an opposition stronghold of clashes between police and residents as Kenyans once again went to the polls to vote in a disputed presidential election.

In eyewitness video from the scene filmed today (October 26), local journalist Aldrin Sampear apologises for being out-of-breath and says he has been running around to avoid tear gas.

He writes: "Police have been running battles with protesting residents in Nairobi's Kibera area since this morning before polling stations opened.

"While police manage to disperse the angry residents, they would regroup, pelting stones. This is NASA (National Super Alliance) and many supporters of Raila Odinga have heeded the call not to turn up at the voting stations, which virtually remain empty."

Opposition leader Odinga got nearly 45 percent of the vote in August.
