Rock N' Roll legend Fats Domino dies at 89
  • 6 years ago
Fats Domino, a legendary pianist, recording artist, and pioneer of rock n' roll music, was reported dead at 89 by local reports in New Orleans. His first record, 'The Fat Man,' was released in 1949 and was the first rock n' roll record to sell a million copies while achieving a no 2. ranking on the R&B charts. He rubbed shoulders with former president Bill Clinton, who bestowed him the National Medal of Arts at a White House Ceremony. George W. Bush made a personal visit to Domino after Hurricane Katrina and replaced his medal and gold records that were lost in the debris. Domino's legacy will live on, especially after being honored with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement award.
