BBMP sanitation workers protest over harassment and demanding pending wages| Oneindia News

Hundreds of sanitation workers protested outside the BBMP office in Bengaluru on Wednesday. Abused and harassed by contractors for demanding their wages, these workers sat in protest demanding Justice. Wednesday's protest was triggered by a contractors sexually harassing women sanitation workers, flashing at them after they demanded that their wages which have been pending for 3 whole months be paid. Despite a complaint against the corporator to the BBMP as well as the police, no action has been initiated against the contractor. The sanitation workers, especially women have alleged that there is no redresaal mechanisms for various violations and harassment they suffer in their line of work. So much so that despite contractors threatening to shove rods into their private parts, no action is ever taken against them.
