Footage has emerged of hundreds of children on scooters taking over the streets of Brisbane as part of an event organised on social media.

The video, captured on October 22, shows the teenagers riding through the streets of the city amid heavy traffic.

''(The Brisbane Street Jam) ended in chaos on the roads and fist fights with police,'' the filmer later claimed online.

''The gang was too much for authorities to handle scooting all over the city pulling off stunts and evading police in hot pursuit,'' he added.

According to reports, several riders were arrested but were released without charge.
