Che Guevara, Irish Hero?

The Irish government released a new stamp commemorating the 50th anniversary of Che Guevara's death. But why?

Ireland chose to honor Che, who helped lead Cuba's communist revolution, for his politics as well as his Irish heritage. Che's father descended from the Lynch clan, one of the families that founded the city of Galway.

But many in Ireland are opposed to the stamp, saying Che resorted to violence and murder to achieve his political aims. Miami's Cuban community also voiced its opposition to the stamp. Despite the controversy, the stamp's initial run of 122,000 has already sold out.
