Google Launches Appeal Against Record EU Antitrust Fine

Investing.com - Tech giant Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has launched a legal challenge against a record €2.4bn ($2.9 bn) European Union antitrust fine.Google lodged an appeal at the EU court in Luxembourg on Monday.Google was ordered to pay the fine by the European Commission in June.The EC ruled that Google illegally favored its shopping service in search results.The fine was the largest penalty ever issued by the regulator.Google was given 90 days to comply or face a further fine.The deadline for making the changes is 28 September.Lodging the appeal does not suspend the fine, meaning that Google is still obliged to pay.
