Diwali, each house is lit up with oil lamps, candles and colorful electric lights. Traditionally, the earthen lamps with cotton wicks were lit in most of the houses. ಹಿಂದೂ ಧರ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ದೀಪಗಳ ಹಬ್ಬ ದೀಪಾವಳಿಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಸ್ಥಾನಮಾನವಿದೆ. ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ ಇಲ್ಲವೇ ನವೆಂಬರ್ ಮಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವ ಈ ಹಬ್ಬ ಅಜ್ಞಾನದ ಅಂಧಕಾರವನ್ನು ಕಳೆದು ಜ್ಞಾನದ ಜ್ಯೋತಿಯನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ಮನೆ ಮನದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಸರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ದೀಪಾವಳಿ ಅಂದರೆ 'ದೀಪಗಳ ಸಾಲು" ಎಂದರ್ಥ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ದೀಪಗಳು ಈ ಹಬ್ಬದ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾತ್ರವಹಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಅದಾಗ್ಯೂ ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ಹಣತೆ ಹಚ್ಚಿಡುವುದೇ ಶುಭ ದೀಪಾವಳಿಯ ಸಂಕೇತವಾಗಿದೆ. ದೀಪಗಳನ್ನು ಹಚ್ಚಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡೇ ದೀಪಾವಳಿಯನ್ನು ಏಕೆ ಆಚರಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂಬುದು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮನದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂಡಿರುವ ಸಂದೇಹವಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಇಂದಿನ ಲೇಖನದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದರ ಇತಿಹಾಸವನ್ನು ನಿಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಲಿದ್ದೇವೆ.
