NCAA: North Carolina won't be pushed for academic scandal

The NCAA didn't find North Carolina guilty of any wrongdoing when it came to a multi-year academic scandal involving athletes across multiple sports. The academic fraud allegations involved classes taken by athletes in the African and Afro-American studies department between 2002 and 2011 that helped many retain their eligibility. North Carolina said the work was assigned, completed, turned in and graded, often by the former secretary, under the professor’s guidelines. While the university admitted the courses failed to meet its own expectations and standards, the university maintained that the courses did not violate its policies at the time.
