Iceland has a committee that decides people's names
  • 7 years ago
Naming your child is a big responsibility. The people in Iceland take it so seriously that they have a 3 member committee to vote on children's names. "Every month, submissions from parents or prospective parents reach the committee." "On average, between one-half and two-thirds of the names proposed will be approved and duly entered in the official register, which presently counts 1,888 boys' names and 1,991 girls.'" Good thing Iceland only has a population of 334,252.
