Google’s New Translating Pixel Buds Headphones Have Competition
  • 7 years ago
Google’s new Pixel Buds will turn you into an international conversationalist.

The Pixel Buds, which were revealed at a recent event touting the release of Google's new Pixel 2 phone, act as a personal translator. You speak in your native language, and the phone’s speakers output the translation.

But the tech giant has competition for a place in your ears. The Pilot Smart Earpiece raised more than $4 million last year on Indiegogo. The product works in a similar way to Google’s, allowing for real-time conversation in two different languages. The WT2 translator is also making noise, nearly tripling its crowdfunding goal in just over a week.

The Pilot and WT2 have not been released yet, but they’re rushing to break down language barriers — and win over your ears.
