'If All the Bees Die, We Die': Men Herd Bees Into Box for Their Safety
  • 7 years ago
A pair of men who stumbled across a swarm of bees on a Perth road on October 10 attempted to protect the insects by herding them into the safety of a cardboard box until they were relocated by council workers.Ian Ferry was leaving his office in Malaga, Western Australia, when he drove through a massive swarm of bees and watched them settle into a puddle in the middle of the road. He decided to park his car to block oncoming traffic before calling the local council to relocate them.“After all, if all the bees die, we die,” Ferry wrote in a Facebook post. “If I left they would have been run over. So, came up with an idea with another bloke who stopped, to try move them off the road in a box.”The video shows the swarm slowly crawling out of the sun and off the pavement into the shade of a cardboard box. ABC Australia reported they were taken to a local hive and were doing well.“Call me crazy, could have died… but job done,” Ferry said. “Not one sting either, if it went pear-shaped could have ended up like the movie My Girl.” Credit: Ian Ferry via Storyful
