LAS VEGAS — Authorities are still trying to determine a motive for the deadly Las Vegas shooting that killed 58 people and wounded nearly 500 last weekend.
Investigators found a handwritten note with distance and trajectory calculations in shooter Stephen Paddock's hotel room, CBS News reported.

The note was found in Paddock's Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino suite along with 23 firearms and ammunition.

Even with over 1,000 leads and tips, authorities still have no credible information about Paddock's potential motive.

Police said they believe a Mandalay Bay security guard responding to a door alarm near Paddock's room on the 32nd floor caused the shooter to shift his focus from the Route 91 concert crowd across the street, Undersheriff Kevin C. McMahill told CNN.

Officials are confident Paddock was the only shooter, although they are still trying to determine if anyone knew of his plans, CNN reported.

Paddock brought the 23 guns and ammunition found in his suite over the course of several days, McMahill said.

Investigators still do not know what Paddock planned to do with the 50 pounds of explosives found in his vehicle in the hotel parking garage.
