US Vice President Pence honours Las Vegas shooting victims

US Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen lay flowers in Las Vegas on Saturday where they paid tribute to the 58 people shot dead at an outdoor concert.
Tight security surrounded a commemoration for victims of last weekend’s massacre, with the motive behind gunman Stephen Paddock’s killing spree still a mystery.
“On Sunday night, Las Vegas came face to face with pure evil. But no evil, no act of violence, will ever diminish the strength and goodness of the American people,” said Pence, whose visit follows that of President Donald Trump earlier in the week.

ISIL has claimed responsibility for the attack from a 32nd floor hotel suite although investigators have found no links with the shooter.
Some gathered in the casino city to demand tighter gun control.
“Congress needs to do something to protect the citizens of this country,” said protester Terri Nordbye.
“We’ve had enough. Enough is enough. We’ve had enough massacres in this country and it’s time for Congress to act.”
Others staged a prayer walk for victims, their families, and emergency teams who helped those caught up in the carnage.
