I'm back in Scotland for a video project with VisitScotland.
To see my travel photography, check me out on Instagram at @brendanvanson.
I've been looking forward to getting back to Scotland for a while. When I was last there, I really fell for it. Especially the highlands.
But, I was also looking forward to getting back to Glasgow, a place I skipped on my last trip to Scotland.
Glasgow is one of my favourite cities. There's just something about it that's really special. In Scotland, everyone talks about Edinburgh. But, they often forget Glasgow.
For me, Edinburgh is like that fairy-tale city, whereas Glasgow is more of an edgy art city. I like them both, and I love the contrast of them. But, I've definitely spent more time in Edinburgh, so I have been looking forward to seeing more of Glasgow.
On the vlog, I left Munich for Scotland early in the morning. I was exhausted. But, everything went really smooth and the staff at Eurowings gave me a pass on my overweight luggage because I'm a photographer. So good of her.
I arrived in Edinburgh and immediately whipped down the highway to Glasgow. There, I checked into the Hotel du Vin which is classy. My suite there might be the nicest room I've ever stayed in. It was just beautiful.
In the evening I headed down to the necropolis for some travel photography over Glasgow Cathedral.
Travel photography, so often, is about being in the right place at the right time. And, I was definitely there. The light just popped off for me. It was an incredible sunset and the light just blew me away. The location up at the Necropolis was fantastic too. I loved the foreground of the old cemetery along with the cathedral in the background.
Travel photography in Glasgow is actually pretty easy. The city is just so photogenic. I'm already looking forward to more of this city.
On tomorrow's travel photography vlog, I'm headed to Barra Island. Apparently, there are white sand beaches there. Crazy.
Stay tuned.
