Husband kills 'wonderful' wife before killing himself in tragic murder-suicide
A DOTING husband murdered his wife and then committed suicide just two hours after posting a photograph of their wedding day on social media. His wife of just three years was found dead 20 miles away, at the couple’s £190,000 home in Rednal, Birmingham, 40 minutes later.A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “It’s understood the woman was murdered before the man took his own life.”University of Derby graduate Mr Barnes updated his Facebook profile with the wedding picture just twoand-a-half hours before he is believed to have attacked his wife.His posts at the time of his wedding in 2014 described her as “perfect” and “beautiful”.He wrote of the ceremony: “She took my breath away, I had to focus and look towards the altar, turned to my brother and said, ‘bro, she’s beautiful’. Absolutely stunning.” Mrs Barnes worked at Birmingham Women’s Hospital where she had made friends with patient Samantha Ellard, a mother-of-two, who lost her baby a few months later.Last night Samantha said: “Amy really looked after me and helped me to move on from the pain.“She was a wonderful woman... incredibly caring.“She would talk about how she was due to get married and how excited she was and how in love she was. They were a match made in heaven, which is why what’s happened is so hard to believe. It’s a tragedy.”Peter Cooley, 79, a neighbour of Mr Barnes’s parents Robert, 72, and Vivien, 68, called James “a nice lad”.
