Debra Messing Insisted a Focus on Feminism in 'Will and Grace' Reboot

Debra Messing is returning to the “Will and Grace” reboot with a voice and a message.
According to the New York Post’s Page Six, Messing told a Tribeca TV Festival crowd, “The only thing that I asked for was that Grace be a feminist… That she have a voice.”
It’s reported that the premiere episode will address the fact that her character is a democrat, and has to compromise her political beliefs to accept a job in the design field.
Page Six reports that politics wasn’t the only hardship messing with Messing. She struggled with getting back into her character, Grace Adler. Messing reportedly says, “I think it took a little bit… I think the language was there and I recognized right away and my body recognized it, but you know, it’s been 11 years and I think I was a little tentative. I think eventually by the third episode I sort of relaxed and I was like, ‘Ok, she’s back.’”
Fans are excited to see her return to the small screen on Sept. 28.
