Ring of Steel: Cardiff turns into ‘open air prison’ ahead of NATO summit

Cardiff city center has been turned into a high security "prison" with 16 kilometers (10 miles) of fencing ahead of the NATO conference next week. The almost three-meter tall (9 foot 8 inches) fencing crosses parks, roads and even rings Cardiff Castle's walls. More than 9,000 officers from across the UK have been drafted to ensure security at the event which will be attended by 150 heads of state. An additional crew of 10,000 support staff and 2,000 journalists are also expected. The world leaders will meet on September 4 and 5.
