Holiday-goer rejects trips abroad for Norfolk Broads - for his 50th time
MAX EDWARDS loves the Norfolk Broads so much he has holidayed there every summer for 50 years. His love affair with the Broads hotted up in 1976 after he met his future wife Jean. They spent their first holiday together there during that heatwave year and returned in 1977 for their honeymoon. For their latest trip, the couple will set off from Wroxham on a special three-week break to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. “We have come back nearly every year to celebrate our wedding anniversary since,” said Max. “This will be our third Broads holiday this year. “March was really quiet while August was obviously a lot busier. It is different every time we come and that’s why we enjoy it.” The former local government employees are both retired. “We’re planning to do a bit of the northern and southern rivers on this journey,” said Max. “A lot of people avoid the southern rivers but they are really worth visiting. The run up to Norwich is also very nice if you have the time. “I’d suggest that anyone going to the Broads for a boating holiday give themselves at least a week. “Short breaks are nice but you don't get to appreciate the Broads enough as you spend your time trying to race around and get it all in.” Max and Jean and their dog Pablo have already booked three boating holidays for 2018 in spring, summer and autumn and have no wish to venture on a foreign holiday. “In all the time we have been coming to the Broads we have never had a bad experience,” Max said. “Each visit has been special in its own right.”. 00FastNews.
