Amid thousands of killings during the Duterte administration, several groups of protesters and students railed against a perceived strongman rule 31 years after Ferdinand Marcos' dictatorship was toppled. The groups gathered at Luneta, among other sites, on Sept. 21, 2017, believed to be the anniversary of Marcos' declaration of martial law.
