'Princess Diana' escapes down a drainpipe and could 'pop up' in a toilet
PRINCESS Diana, a royal python, has escaped from a family home down a drain pipe and could “pop up” in her neighbour’s toilets, sparking fear and outrage in Bristol residents. Sarah Ferris from Stockwood put the 18-month-old python in a bathtub while she cleaned Diana’s tank, but when she checked on the pet five minutes later it had disappeared.Firefighters drilled holes in the floor to search for the "princess", but could not find it.Ms Ferris told the Bristol Post: “She belongs to my seven-year-old daughter, and we have had Diana for about three months. “My daughter has wanted one for years and she is very upset Diana’s gone.“I was cleaning her tank where she lives and had put her in a bathtub, thinking it was safe and secure. But she got out through a small hole and down the pipe.“That was where we believe she has gone. “The fire service was amazing and they were drilling holes everywhere and sticking cameras down there to see if they could find her.“They could not see any sign of her.“We think she could have gone into the drainage system, so might be popping up in someone’s toilet.” People took to social media to vent their fears about the People’s Python potentially popping up.Emily Newport said: “Does anyone know where in Stockwood this is as I am literally freaking out. I am not going to sleep.”Becky Fletcher added: “Zak I need you home right now How am I going to sleep knowing this” But some people were angry at the owners for owning the snake and not looking after it properly.Linda Forbes said the owners “should not have snakes if they cant look after them”.Kathleen Edwards said: “This kind of pet should not be allowed to be kept in a house for this very reason. Let's hope it is caught before it needs to eat.” The python is from West Africa and Ms Ferris said it is not venomous or dangerous.Ms Ferris added that Diana is friendly with children and lets her kids hold the python. But, she also said that “snakes being snakes”, they strike when threatened, but "Princess Diana is normally very friendly".. 00FastNews.
