Drunken couple thrown off flight after 6am beers at airport
A ROWDY couple thrown off a holiday flight after getting drunk early in the morning in a VIP airport lounge had boasted on Facebook: “Already tipsy on the free bar.” The incident occurred last August at Manchester Airport’s Terminal One, as the pair prepared to fly to Copenhagen on a 6am flight. Despite the early hour, the pair had taken advantage of the VIP lounge by downing free alcoholic drinks. Prosecutor Matthew Treece said: “There was limited room in the overhead compartment when they boarded because they were last. The defendant said ‘this is a ******* joke’ and shifted people’s luggage around. “A member of staff asked him to calm down. He told them to ‘**** off’. He was very threatening. “They asked him to collect his belongings and leave three times. The police were then contacted.” Mr Treece said Mrs Brady was neither arrested nor charged as – although she was drunk – she never behaved in “an unpleasant way”.Nnamdi Inegbu, defending, said: “His behaviour was completely inappropriate and unpleasant.“But he didn’t intend to cause harm or distress.
