These Smart Tires Will Warn You About Tricky Road Conditions

Two new smart tire concepts from Continental are attempting to prepare the industry for the driverless age.

The company's "Contisense" technology can measure tread depth and temperature using special sensors. The sensors can also send alerts about slippery conditions and warnings when a tire is punctured or damaged. The "Contiadapt" is a tire with four different tread patterns that adapt to different surfaces and conditions, like snow and gravel.

Currently, these intelligent tires are just concepts, and it remains unclear when they'll be ready to officially roll out.
