Government building partially collapses in Mexico quake

Dramatic footage has emerged from Mexico City of a building partially collapsing moments after a powerful earthquake hit the area.

The video, captured on September 18, shows huge slabs of the government's national employment office falling down with pedestrians nearby.

Construction workers can also be seen fleeing the building.

''I was passing by the Servicio Nacional de Empleo and suddenly I saw some small fragments falling down the building," said the filmer, David Chavez. "So I began to film.''

He added: ''I saw huge fragments falling above people on the street. It was so shocking so I stopped filming,''

Authorities dug through rubble early Wednesday following Tuesday's magnitude 7.1 quake, searching for survivors. At least 248 are confirmed dead.
