UK weather: Rain sweeps in form the Atlantic as dry weather comes to an end
WESTERN parts of the UK to be hit by rain as Atlantic system pushes warm dry weather out, according to the latest forecast. Meteorologist Charles Powell said: “There is a bit of a change as we head into the next 24 hours or so, more cloud around and also a little bit more rain.“Stepping out of the door first thing on Wednesday morning most of us off to a dry start and a sunny start but out towards the west you can see the cloud starting to increase and also some rain working its way in across Northern Ireland and western Scotland.”As well as rain in western parts of the UK there will be more cloud across the country and some locally strong winds for coastal and hilly areas.
However some dry and sunny spells can be enjoyed by those in most areas of England as warmer wind from Europe sees off the advance of the rain.The warm air from the south will keep temperatures from dipping during the day with dry areas feeling quite warm.Temperatures of around 19C can be expected by most people in England while those in Wales and Scotland will experience lower temperatures to accompany the rain. Moving into Thursday, rain will slowly march across the UK but will stall as the band narrows and intensifies across much of Wales as well as western and northern parts of England.The south east will continue to dodge the worst of the weather and remain mostly dry throughout the day. More cold, wet weather is expected to make its way in from the Atlantic on Friday before things get drier and warmer for most on Saturday.Mr Powell said: “We have got something a bit cooler and a bit more showery turning up in time for Friday.”. 00FastNews.
