President Trump has declared that some parts of the world are “going to hell.”
He made the remark during his speech on Tuesday at the United Nations General Assembly.
“Major portions of the world are in conflict and some, in fact, are going to hell. But the powerful people in this room, under the guidance and auspices of the United Nations, can solve many of these vicious and complex problems,” Trump stated.
While the president did not specify the countries he thinks falls into these two categories, he went on to criticize the ruling regimes in Cuba and Venezuela.
He also blasted the regime in North Korea, stating, “It is responsible for the starvation deaths of millions of North Koreans, and for the imprisonment, torture, killing, and oppression of countless more.”
And, after mentioning the rogue country’s recent missile tests, Trump went so far as to say, “if [the U.S.] is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea.”
According to Politico, the president’s speech, reportedly written with the help of his more nationalistic aide Stephen Miller, seemed to be geared toward satisfying his base at home while still taking into account the positions of his fellow foreign leaders.
