Refugees start new school term in Serbian limbo

The Nazari family are among 700 young refugees and migrants enrolled for a new school term in Serbia -- far from the Europe that they dreamt of reaching when they left Afghanistan nearly two years ago. But since the closure of the "Balkan route" in 2016, Serbia has become a cul-de-sac for thousands of migrants. Local authorities are trying to accommodate youngsters in formal education despite the language barrier.
