[Secret Korea - Seoul] Ep. 26 Sejong Village / YTN (Yes! Top News)

  • 6년 전
Mt.Bugaksan and Mt.Inwangsan embrace the northern part of Seoul.

And below is Sejong Village that boasts its 600 years of history.

My name is Gregory Defraize and I am a French chef based in Seoul.

Whenever I want to feel the warmth of Seoul,

I head to Sejong Village next to Gyeongbokgung Palace.

In alleys of Sejong Village, some culture and art spaces remain

pretty much the same as what it looked like in the old days.

From a single-floor Hanok who’s workspace still retains its old looks

from which you can feel its original owner's artistic touch,

To a two-story mansion reborn into an art museum

through a harmony of eastern and western styles of architecture,

And lastly an old inn that has transformed into

a new form of exhibition space,

Sejong Village’s old spaces and buildings are remaining

with their charm and grace.

Tongin Market, in the heart of Sejong Village, is,

A place I never miss out whenever I visit there.

There’s a special way to purchase food in the market

by using Korea's traditional coins used hundreds of years ago.

You can add a little bit of everything to make your very own lunch box.

This lunch box filled with generosity of the traditional market

will remain as a precious memory for me.

By the time dusk creeps in, Sejong Village’s alleys become quite crowded.

This alley is called 'Food Culture Street',

a representative tourist attraction in the village.

The stores along the narrow alleys greet visitors with delicious food.

Here is where the old encounters the new.

I will cherish Sejong Village and its friendly atmosphere deep in my heart.
