LONDON — A woman is lucky to be alive after she was pushed into the path of an oncoming bus by a unknown jogger in west London.

According to the Metropolitan police, the 33-year-old victim was walking on the Putney Bridge at about 7:40 a.m. on May 5 when she encountered a male jogger approaching from the opposite direction.

As seen in the CCTV footage released by the police, the jogger suddenly pushed her and sent her flying into the road, landing just inches away from an oncoming bus.

The bus driver managed to avoid running the victim over, and some passengers got off the vehicle to rush to her aid, according to the police statement.

"The victim was put in extreme danger when she was knocked into the road. It was only due to the superb quick reactions of the bus driver that she was not hit by the vehicle," Sergeant Mat Knowles, the investigating officer from Putney Safer Neighbourhood Team said in the statement.

While the woman was still being helped 15 minutes later, the jogger actually came running back in the opposite direction across the bridge. When the woman tried to speak to him, he reportedly ignored her and continued on his way.

Police are hunting for the jogger and are appealing to the public for any information about the incident.
