It is one of the highlights on the European music festival scene.

Final preparations are being made ahead of Wednesday’s opening of the week-long Sziget festival on Obuda island in Budapest.

Tens of thousands are pouring into the city.

One English tourist already at the site told reporters: “This is the second year. We were here last year and we thought it would be nice to come back for the 25th anniversary.”

There are dozens of different scenes offering music, dance and even theatre performances, with more than 80 concerts per day.

Setting up a tent and a clothes line, one young festival-goer said: “We are making something for our clothes to dry because yesterday it rained and it was so wet.”

Another young woman said: “We’re probably going to go and see Pink because we listened to that when we were teenagers.”
