Marine Dies After Tree Falls On Him During Training At Camp Pendleton

A U.S. Marine at California’s Camp Pendleton passed away on Friday. According to the 1st Marine Division, Lance Corporal Cody J. Haley was participating in a routine training exercise that morning when a tree collapsed on him.

According to the 1st Marine Division, Lance Corporal Cody J. Haley was participating in a routine training exercise that morning when a tree collapsed on him.
He was pronounced dead at the site, and an investigation into why the tree gave way is being conducted. 
KGTV reports that a statement issued by the 1st Marine Division noted, “We are heartbroken at the tragic loss of a member of the Marine Corps family, and we will do all we can to comfort the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased." 
Haley, who was 20 years old, had received a number of awards during his service, including the Global War on Terrorism Service medal and the National Defense Service medal.
