Gorka: Trump’s Tweets Can Put Pressure On China To Act On North Korea

Sebastian Gorka has suggested that President Trump’s tweeting can help put pressure on China to try and keep North Korea in line.

White House foreign policy adviser Sebastian Gorka has suggested that President Trump’s tweeting can help put pressure on China to try and keep North Korea in line.
During a Fox News interview Thursday, Gorka was shown a Chinese media report that declared Trump was wrong about Beijing's influence on North Korea; he was then asked about other options the president has left to “get China to act.”
Gorka responded by saying, “We have the president's Twitter feed. We have the most powerful man in the world making it very clear that we came out of the Mar-a-Lago summit with very high hopes.”
He was likely referring to Trump’s April summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Florida estate.
Gorka added, “...the president has made it clear he is not satisfied. He is disappointed with what Beijing has done since Mar-a-Lago, and he wishes to see them step up to the plate.”
After the host pressed him about the effectiveness of using Trump’s Twitter feed, Gorka said, “If you can win a U.S. election with it, I think it's pretty powerful.”
Despite his confidence, the method may not be working as he predicted; on Saturday, the president tweeted in a series, “I am very disappointed in China. Our foolish past leaders have allowed them to make hundreds of billions of dollars a year in trade, yet......they do NOTHING for us with North Korea, just talk. We will no longer allow this to continue. China could easily solve this problem!”
According to CNN, Chinese state media responded Monday with an editorial that said, “Trump is quite a personality, and he likes to tweet, however emotional venting cannot become the guidance for solving the nuclear issues on the Korean peninsula.”
The CNN report adds, “...the widely disseminated editorial blamed the US for the increasing tensions with North Korea by flying bombers over South Korea and ignoring invitations to talks.”
However, Trump will likely not be withdrawing from Twitter anytime soon; on Tuesday, he wrote, “Only the Fake News Media and Trump enemies want me to stop using Social Media (110 million people). Only way for me to get the truth out!”
