Protesters were arrested in the Bello Campo neighborhood of Caracas, Venezuela, as a general strike against the government’s plans to write a new constitution entered its second day on July 27.Protests in the same area the previous day saw police shoot tear gas at a crowd of protesters who threw fireworks and rocks at them.The Venezuelan government issued a ban on protests from July 28 to August 1, and plans to elect delegates to the Constituent Assembly, which would have power to rewrite the constitution and shut down the opposition-led legislature, on July 31.The US government ordered family members of employees at its embassy in Venezuela to leave on July 27, as seven people were killed during the strike, according to Reuters.
