Parents Express Outrage Over Trump's Speech At Boy Scout Jamboree

President Trump recently spoke at the Boy Scout Jamboree in West Virginia. His comments, which included seemingly disparaging words about Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and the media brought angry reactions from many of the scouts’ parents and other concerned citizens.
President Trump spoke at the Boy Scout Jamboree in West Virginia on Monday, and after leading with, “Who the hell wants to speak about politics when I'm in front of the Boy Scouts,” proceeded to do just that.
His comments, which included seemingly disparaging words about Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and the media brought angry reactions from many of the scouts’ parents and other concerned citizens, reports the BBC.
One said via Facebook, “Done with scouts after you felt the need to have my kid listen to a liar stroke his ego on our time."
Another wrote, "Wow, this is what you are teaching the Boy Scouts? To be disrespectful to a Past President. One that had been a Boy Scout, unlike the current President. Completely disrespectful!"
Twitter was flooded with comments as well, including, “Trump's speech violated your own policy. My son didn't join the Scouts to be used as POTUS's political prop!”
Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut tweeted, “As a Scout leader, my stomach is in knots about what Trump did today. If you haven't watched it yet, don't. It's downright icky.”
Not all who joined the conversation were opposed to President Trump’s conduct.
One supporter wrote, “40K STRONGBoy Scouts of America Shout WE LOVE TRUMP, WE LOVE TRUMP at Jamboree Thx God We Now Have a @POTUS Who Loves Our Country!” while another said, “Liberals triggered bigly as Trump speaks the truth to 40,000 cheering scouts. Molding the future leaders.”
NBC News reports that the Boy Scouts of America has since released a statement noting that it is, "wholly non-partisan and does not promote any one position, product, service, political candidate or philosophy," and that Trump’s invitation to address the group was part of, "long-standing tradition and is in no way an endorsement of any political party or specific policies."
