Charlize Theron Wants More Female-Driven Movies
  • 7 years ago
Charlie Theron has a message for Hollywood.

Make more female driven moves.

This is what she what she said while promoting her film Atomic Blonde at the San Diego Comic-Con, where she also addressed her own pet peeves about female action star clichés and whether or not she’d be open to playing a female James Bond.

On the Bond question, she said she’s all for it… but would leave that one to Daniel Craig or Idris Elba.

And when talking about those clichés, Theron said female protagonists don’t need to lose a child or a husband or have some kind of revenge story to become a warrior.

For those of you who don’t know, Charlize and her people went out and found an unpublished graphic novel that would become the film, Atomic Blonde, after roles like Lorraine never came her way.

She also says audiences need to get out there and see more female driven movies if they expect the studio to make more of them.

Atomic Blonde opens on July 28th.
