Temple Mount protests: 3 injured as IDF fires rubber bullets – reports

Protests turned violent in East Jerusalem, on Monday, as Muslim worshippers and Israeli police clashed near the Gates of the Tribe (Al-Asbat) in the north-eastern corner of Temple Mount, after new Israeli security measures were put in place. Three Palestinians were reportedly wounded in the clashes, as rock-throwing protesters were dispersed with force. Chairman of the Palestinian National Initiative, Dr. Mustafa Barghouti, was reportedly hit on the head by a rubber tipped bullet, and was taken to Al-Makkased Hospital in East Jerusalem. The new security measures, which include security cameras and metal detectors, were put in place following a shoot-out last Friday that left 2 Israeli police officers and 3 Palestinians dead.
