The owner of a New Hampshire McDonald’s has apologized after a woman wrote that her son had gotten covered in feces on a restaurant slide.
According to the Associated Press (AP), the owner told the news agency, “we hold ourselves to the highest standard and apologize for Ms. [Justina] Whitmore and her son’s negative experience at our restaurant.”
He also indicated that he has been in contact with the mother who posted about the shocking incident to her Facebook page on July 6.
She writes, “My son was playing with a few friends on the indoor playground and when he went down the slide he came out covered in human feces.”
After describing the difficulty of trying to clean him up in a bathroom with no soap or assistance from the staff, she says she spotted the kid who was likely responsible for the mess, but when she approached the child's father, “The dad stated that he can't take responsibility for it.”
Whitmore then claims to have confronted the manager about the lack of soap in the bathroom and asked for employees’ names, but her threats to call corporate were reportedly laughed off.
She ends the long post by writing, “I am now sitting in an ER to have [my son] checked for any illness he may have caught from this disgusting incident. PLEASE SHARE THIS !!!!!!!”
The response on social media has largely been supportive, with one person writing, “Um the health department should def be called!! If there is no soap that means the food is contaminated!! The health department could shut them down!!! I am sorry this happened. Completely unacceptable and disgusting. I hope your son is ok!!!”
According to the AP, “The Manchester Health Department allowed McDonald’s to reopen the play area the next day after it was cleaned and disinfected.”
