Alamo Fire Near Santa Maria Grows to 24,000 Acres

The Alamo Fire burning east of Santa Maria, California, reached roughly 24,000 acres on Sunday, July 9. As of Sunday, the fire was 10 percent contained and was the largest fire in California, according to the San Luis Obispo Tribune.The Santa Barbara County Fire Department used air support to try to contain the blaze, which was burning across steep terrain.
