QVC acquires Home Shopping Network to battle Amazon

Retail giants QVC and HSN have had loyal followings on cable TV for decades. In an increasingly digital age, they have struggled to compete against online retail. QVC's parent company, Liberty Interactive, already owns 38 percent of HSN's stock... and will purchase the remainder by the end of 2017. QVC revenues were $8.7 billion last year, while HSN had $3.5 billion in sales.
