Facebook triggers the internet by removing breastfeeding photo

POOLE, UNITED KINGDOM — Facebook triggered a hornets nest when it removed a student’s photograph of a woman breastfeeding as part of an art exhibition.

Mica Bohannon, a student at Arts University Bournemouth, had taken the picture for a project and posted it up on the social media platform, the Daily Echo reported.

Bohannon then got a message saying the photo had been removed because it violated Facebook’s Community Standards for nudity, sexual and violent content.

She shared the notification with her friends, and of course, everyone was totally outraged.

According to the art student, “the point of my project is to turn images of breastfeeding into artwork in aim to normalize the sight of breastfeeding through recognition.”

Facebook has since apologized and restored Bohannon’s post.
