Five Points Festival - Comic-Con Celebrates DC and Marvel Comics' Comic Books
  • 7 years ago
ComicsVerse just attended Five Points Festival, a new con in Lower Manhattan, and it was awesome! This was the first year of the con, but they started off strong! The fest, thrown by Midtown Comics and Clutter Magazine, focused primarily on toys and comics. There was an artist alley filled with some of the biggest names in comics, and ComicsVerse was there to bring you some phenomenal interviews.

We got the chance to chat with some big DC names at Five Points Festival! I was lucky enough to talk to James Tynion IV, and the incredible Nadia Shammas talked to the dynamic duo of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo! From Marvel, we chatted with some pretty big names as well. The amazing Rana talked with frequent Marvel artist Khary Randolph, the wonderful Rachel Davis sat down with MOON GIRL AND DEVIL DINOSAUR co-writer Amy Reeder, and the awesome Brandon Davis caught up with GWENPOOL’s Christopher Hastings, among others! Nadia was even persistent enough to get some time with SECRET EMPIRE’s Nick Spencer, even though he wasn’t supposed to be giving interviews!

As much fun as we had talking to the Big Two creators, we here at ComicsVerse love the opportunity to talk to the indie writers and artists as well. There were quite a few at Five Points Festival, and we interviewed a bunch of ’em! We were even lucky enough to catch Eisner-Award nominee Magdalene Visaggio, writer of KIM & KIM! Also awesome were Tee Franklin and Ben Templesmith and other comic books creators!

All in all, the con was a well-oiled machine. Everything flowed smoothly and was great fun. We saw some cool toys, met our favorite creators, and bought way too many comics. It was your typical con experience, in the best way possible. We can’t wait til next year!
