Phil Jackson out as GM of the New York Knicks

Phil Jackson's rocky tenure with the New York Knicks has come to an end. MSG chairman James Dolan fired Jackson Wednesday after they reportedly disagreed on buying out Carmelo Anthony's contract. Jackson, 71, had strained relationships with both Anthony and most recently Kristaps Porzingis, whom he drafted back in 2015. In addition to his insistence on criticizing Anthony in public, Jackson kept pushing the triangle offense, which also reportedly frustrated players and members of the coaching staff. The Knicks were 80-166 in Jackson's three full seasons as team president, losing at least 50 games in each of them.
