Hillsborough disaster: six people charged with criminal offences

Six people have been charged with criminal offences relating to the deaths of 96 people at the 1989 FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham at Hillsborough football stadium. Former senior police officer David Duckenfield, who was in charge of police operations at Hillsborough on the day of the disaster,
has been charged with the manslaughter by gross negligence of 95 men, women and children. Relatives of the victims broke into applause when the announcement was made this morning.
