Report: Trump Considering 'Dramatic Change' To White House Press Briefings

President Trump is considering making significant changes to the formats of White House press briefings, reports the New York Times.

Amid the increasing frequency of off-camera White House press briefings, there has been widespread speculation about the role of press secretary Sean Spicer going forward, as well as the future format for such briefings.
The New York Times reported Tuesday that President Trump is considering making significant changes.
According to the Times, "The biggest shift Mr. Trump is discussing is a dramatic change to the briefing room schedule, including limiting briefings that he has described as a 'spectacle' to once a week and asking reporters to submit written questions."
And on reports that Spicer's role may be evolving to a less-public position in the White House, the press secretary told reporters Tuesday, "I’m right here...it’s no secret we’ve had a couple vacancies, including our communications director is gone for a while. We’ve been seeking input from individuals as far as ideas that they have. We’ve been meeting with potential people that may be of service to this administration."
Bloomberg reported Monday that, according to two inside sources, Spicer may move into a more senior and strategic position within the communications department, though President Trump has not yet decided if he will approve that transition.
According to Politico, the press secretary has already begun the search for someone to take his place at the podium, noting, “Last week, Spicer and White House chief of staff Reince Priebus reached out to Fox News personality Laura Ingraham about the role of press secretary…”
