India captain reached even greater heights in Test cricket under the guidance of Anil Kumble who was appointed the coach of the Indian last year just before the tour of West Indies. Kohli was on a record-breaking spree in 2016. He became the first Indian captain to score a double hundred outside India and was also a successful captain with five series victories. Under Kumble, Kohli slammed 1503 runs in 16 Tests at 65.34. The India skipper also scored five centuries, including four double hundreds. He became the first-ever batsman to slam double centuries in four consecutive Test series. In ODIs too, The 28-year-old was in his best form of life with 801 runs from 13 matches scoring at an average of 100.12. He also struck two centuries and six fifties in that one-year period starting from the New Zealand ODI series and ending at the Champions Trophy final loss to Pakistan.
