Republican Karen Handel wins Georgia special election

Republican Karen Handel defeated Democrat Jon Ossoff on Tuesday night in Georgia's special House elections. Handel, who was Georgia's former secretary of state, led by five percentage points at 52 percent. President Trump congratulated Handel via Twitter. Ossoff's defeat is a setback for Democrats, who hoped to win the race with Trump's low approval ratings. “Tonight’s victory is for you. It’s for every citizen in the 6th (Congressional) District," Handel.
