The numbers are startling: 40.3 million were uprooted within their own countries, 2.8 million are asylum seekers, and 51% are younger than 18 years old. Overall, it’s the highest number of refugees displaced from their homes since World War II.Back in September 2016, 193 nations singed the New York Declaration, pledging their cooperation to help solve the ongoing refugee crisis. However, recent pushback from the U.S. and some European countries could leave millions of refugees with an uncertain future.
