No risk, no success: How Wilmer Cabrera is changing Houston | MLS Insider
  • 7 years ago
He’s scarcely three months into his first season with the club, but head coach Wilmer Cabrera already has the Houston Dynamo looking inspired again. The proud organization fell on hard times in recent years, missing the playoffs in each of the last three seasons and enduring a miserable 2016 that saw former head coach Owen Coyle leave the team in May before they went on to finish dead-last in the Western Conference.Cabrera hasn’t been on the job long, but he’s already transformed the Dynamo. New signings Alberth Elis and Romell Quioto, a reinvigorated Cubo Torres and talented youngster Mauro Manotas make Houston’s lightning-quick attack one of the most dangerous in the league, and have the Dynamo in second in the West.At the heart of it all is Cabrera, a Colombian midfield legend whose passion for the sport and preference for bold, attacking soccer have Houston firmly on the right track.
