The Italian fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana, or D&G, has issued a tongue-in-cheek response to those criticizing the company for supporting first lady Melania Trump.

The Italian fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana, or D&G, has issued a tongue-in-cheek response to those criticizing the company for supporting first lady Melania Trump.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the company has released a new T-shirt that features the words '#BOYCOTT DOLCE & GABBANA' with a red heart underneath; they retail for $245 each.
The designers behind the label, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, have been outspoken fans of Mrs. Trump.
In fact, Gabbana’s Instagram feed features a photo of the first lady in Italy wearing a D&G floral applique jacket estimated to have cost $51,000. The post also thanks her and calls her a “#DGWoman.”
Mrs. Trump, meanwhile, appears to have responded to the support positively. According to the Daily Mail, she wore the label exclusively while visiting Italy with President Trump.
While first ladies are typically desired clients for fashion designers, Mrs. Trump has reportedly faced an unusual degree of backlash due to some of her husband’s controversial policies.
A BuzzFeed News report from March listed 10 designers like Zac Posen, Marc Jacobs, and Phillip Lim, who have publicly declined to dress her.
