The Trump administration’s Russia woes continue to dominate the news, and, it appears, are beginning to creep into advertising as well.
Smirnoff Vodka has launched an ad campaign that references recent developments in Trump-Russia matters, reports The Independent.
It reads, “Made In America. But we’d be happy to talk about our ties to Russia under oath.”
The statement seemingly being referenced was made by President Trump on Friday, just one day after former FBI Director James Comey testified that Trump had asked him for loyalty and broached the possibility that the investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn be dropped, notes the Washington Examiner.
In responding to Comey’s account of events, Trump characterized the statements as false and said he is “100 percent” amenable to giving his side of the story under oath.
As for Smirnoff’s ties to Russia, it was founded in Moscow during the mid-19th century.
The Telegraph notes that the creator and his family left the nation in 1917 amid an intensifying revolution.
